EEE at work

Posted on:September 19 2008

It totally sucks to waste 2 hours of your life every day just to go to work. Something I am not used to that much anymore since I am self employed. But from time to time, I have to do this since I am working as Freelancer as well, and I found that my EEE PC is the ideal tool to utilize these 2 hours. In contrast to usual notebooks, it has the perfect size to just pull it out and do some work here and there, or to just try out an idea you just had, especially in the subway or busses. Although, it feels a bit strange to have a full webserver and database server running on this tiny machine. :)

I definitely agree with you, i'm a commuter too and the EEE is perfect for working on trains :)

Argh. I've been debating getting one, and that pic alone is quite encouraging. ;)

the new dell inspiron mini looks quite nice too. it's great that it is passively cooled. the downside is that it has a glossy display. i find glossy displays unusable.

darn, i would like a netbook with no moving parts (passive cooling) and with a matte display. :)

Honestly, that looks horrible. I think my eyeballs would explode after looking at that disgustingly tiny screen for more than 5 minutes.

I have seen the version with the 10" display in a store on saturday, and that one looks quite promising to me. Maybe I'll get one sooner or later, but a 7" display is not enough for me ;)

i would get a msi wind over asus eee (hd is too small on eee; msi 80/120 GB vs eee 1/2/4/12/16/20/40/80 GB). but i think these type of netbook costs way too much for what you're getting. it's terribly underpowered even using intel atom processor. the msi wind costs around $499 - $599. it should be more like $299 - $399.
