And you thought programming games is fun

Programming games is fun, right? Especially if you are doing this for a living, and get money for this. Right? Think again.
I just calculated that I started and played that *censored* game about 400 times this week already. I just cannot see it anymore. And it's only Thursday. [nope, not talking about Darkness Springs.] ;)

Yup then what about acting in movies or starting a asinging career. Really can we stop our selves from programming games. We have to do it, we must do it and we cannot leave it. It is us ourselves who do this, and it so really damn interesting and good we just cant stop ourselves. It is what for we live. Better to have something that we like then banging our head in wall thinking what to do. Luckily we have something constructive to do. In the end personal satisfaction is prime and it really matters.

@niko, I played "Gate Of Destiny" a freeware by Nikolas Gerbhardt. I was amzed it ran anyway on 880GT(Every day some old game break due to driver issue). It is fun, and I really regreted that I dont know more german, so I have enjoyed it more. All in all good game, if one anyway imagines good graphics(but graphics is no matter considering when it was released and one person made it. I liked it.

Programming demos/games is fun. Getting paid for them is nice too. But having to work against a deadline is where the fun stops. That's why I've decided to not bother trying to program for a living. I think it would end up being too stressful.

Much better to simply pick a subject I'm interested in (like tech demos showing off ideas using physics, GLSL, etc) and code those. Much more fun and you get to show off a bit.

And if you ever make something you think people would like - you could always try selling it on for a small amount of money. Obviously you wouldn't get a profit if any - but a little extra cash to buy that new programming book you've been eying is always nice.

I hope this game is more fun than the other one and has better graphics. I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Much of the IT industry is all about dead lines and most programmers are put in no win situations with dead lines. The trick that I love and that keeps me going is finding the best solution with in the given time line. It's this type of innovation and challenge I enjoy :D
