VS 2005 here I come

Posted on:June 08 2006

Later than planned, but I just bought a brand new Visual Studio 2005. Time to remove one of the old Studios, because together with the new one I'll have 5 versions installed, and my hard disk is already screaming. I guess I'll remove the Express Edition, I'll still need the other ones to check for compiler compatibility.

Hmmm, which ones? Do you have 7 _and_ 7.1 installed?

No MS program is too new, to not already have a hotfix ready: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=916769

I highly recommend this one, if you don't want have espresso breaks (not long enough for a proper coffee) after changing headers in your project.

Odd that bug didn't show up during beta testing. Oh and I recently got VS too. Only I managed to find a site that sold an academic version with no questions asked. :)

frobozz: yeh i got the academic version too :-) my wife works for UPenn. pretty sweet for $50.00
niko: i feel your pain dude, I have 6.0, 7.1, 2005, and dev-C++, code::blocks, Sharpdevelop, basically every compiler I have ever heard of ;-) and all teh MSDN stuff, that's a lot of disk on a laptop. between that and half-life 2 my disk is nearly full. need to clean up some stuff!

Would be great if you could update the solution files in the repository for vs8 since I think there are allready more people using 8.0 than using 7.1!

I also don't understand why it is important that libs are still working with a >6 year old IDE, I would just stop support VC6.

Right on, who cares about VC6 anymore, if people are still using that, they're better off moving to a free IDE since at least there are free ones that get updated.
