Cleaning up textures

The special fx tutorial of Irrlicht 0.11 is currently quite ugly. See for yourself. I cleaned it up a bit for the next version of Irrlicht, which means I replaced a texture and added a small new material feature. It now looks like this:


I'm not an artist, but I would say it's now definitively better.

Yikes .....my lust for good graphics must have gone lol ;D
3D Graphics circa. 1998-1999 AD like Quake3 seem good enough for me.
What's wrong with me....blame it on my gaming and performance-lust and most of all my GeForce 4 MX 440 :D

Btw your last version was not that ugly....though as I said my gfx card is crap....so I can only see half of what is there lol.
It doesn't support bump mapping, ......pixel shading(I think)....etc.
I have to use my notebook to get some of those effects lol. (it has a Radeon 9100 IGP)

Maybe because I can blabber all I want and hardly anyone will notice.

It's definitely time to improve the tutorials and demos!

Maybe some artists can contribute some graphics to the tutorials and demos and help make them look more professional and sexy!?

It looks really good. Thanks for all of your hard work. I am currently developing a character (me) in blender. We will see if it works out OK, maybe I can throw a couple of characters your way. At least it would be some method of repayment for all of your efforts.
