Not boring

Posted on:March 23 2010

Just updated to Opera 10.51. Very nice so far. But why do they need to completely redesign the whole user interface every release (this time, opera looks similar to Chrome)? At least it doesn't get boring that way. :)

Comments:

I just installed it on ubuntu. It's running nicely, but the GUI is not in line with the ubuntu style. I'm going to use opera now and stick with it if i like it. Otherwise i'll switch to chrome.

Hopefully they don't start running after MS's "all show - no substance" mentality. MS is not that bad but sometimes they lose their focus what's important.

I like it quite much. :) It looks like a crossover between the Chrome UI and the ribbon right now, and it leaves a lot of screen space to the webpages, which is great. Still, probably doesn't look right on non-Windows systems.

Actually, it looks quite similar to the upcoming Firefox UI: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/3.7_Windows_Theme_Mockups

It's a pretty cool UI - as long as they don't mess up the underlying UI too much it's still okay. Opera's cool. =)
