Being a moderator of a forum and subreddit I would blame you for not spending a few seconds to read the guidelines which clearly state: 1. Self promotion rules: Codepens, github/bitbucket repos, or useful code contributions are generally allowed. Tutorials which do not include commercial products or services, and do not include soliciting for services may be allowed, but are subject to rediquette rules. Editorials or perspectives should be limited to community blog locations such as medium.com, or posted directly to reddit. Blogs which include links to other services are subject to removal. Self posts which provide the community with useful insight are encouraged. 2. All other self-promotion, which includes invitations to check out your new site, are subject to reddiquette guidelines. We're especially stringent on the 9:1 ratio. 3. No commercial/product promotion One can't be clearer than point 3. With that being said, I'm not a fan of the general Reddit guidelines of not allowing self-promotion. What is the difference between me posting something and a friend posting something for me? The first one is not allowed on Reddit, the second one is, because it's not "self" promotion. Mods who really enforce this because of the guidelines will, are just hypocrites. And then there are even mods who'll take down your post if you suddenly get a lot of up votes because it's something interesting, but you get blamed for buying votes etc. Sometimes I wonder whether Reddit's guidelines are for something more than just memes.[/quote]
