Some thoughts

So I'm paying for the water I use. For energy and power as well. Also for every bank transfer I do and every letter I send. I pay for the gas I use and for the gazoline my car needs. When I travel by train or subway, I need to pay a fee do do this as well. I am still registered as student at the local university, so I also pay for my education.
Why again am I working 5 hours a day for the state? Half the time I work, I work for taxes only. What am I paying with all my work again? The salary of those stupid politicans? The bonuses of the incompetent managers of the bankrupt banks? I guess that's it. </rant>

Taxes buy all the benefits a modern society depends on (health, security, education, even food and shelter for the underpriviledged). We’ve tried living in anarchy, and that didn’t work.

Personally, I have no problem about paying taxes. I know it hurts in your (and mine, and everyone else’s) bank account, but it’s a necessity in today’s society. If we want public schools, fire departments, roads, bridges, etc, we need taxes. Now if your rant is about how a great part of this hard earned money is misused by bureaucrats and politicians, I wholeheartedly agree. Military expenses, some “security” measures, etc.
We have the duty of calling off our elected officials and show them how pissed off we are with the way they lower their pants to the interests of lobbies not benefitial to the people they’re supposed to serve.

first there were tribal chiefs, then kings, then politician. comman man just keeps working to mke them rich. Unfortunately I cannot think of any solution. Though I think democracy is better then inmperialism.

When you buy something and it doesn’t work you take it back… when you buy something and it doesn’t do what you wanted it to – you complain and maybe get your money back or you get something else that does work.

When you pay taxes; such as road tax and then drive to work and the road is a complete mess you feel cheated; Can you get your money back for a service you didn’t recieve.

When you pay your council tax for the schools, fire and police services you never use; for the expensive street lighting that lights the many empty roads; for the road cleaners that leave the roads dirty.

When you pay your national insurance for hospitals and healthcare and then have to pay again for medical treatment, or have to wait.

Paying taxes would be nice if you actually felt like you were getting your moneys worth. I pay more in taxes per month than any other bill; including the mortgage and every day I feel cheated.

Such is life; what can you do?

Hm, I understand your problem – Taxes are high and if we see people which do a lot of crap (like SOME (!) politicians, not all of them) or some (again, not all of them) ignorant managers, that is not very motivating, of course.
But honestly: Wee need to accept this. Of course we can do something about it: We can pass stricter laws, which control the banks more and more, but we can’t change the whole system.
You pay for some stupid politicians, because there are some people which don’t think, that they are stupid and which vote for them. Why can’t you respect that? Other people pay for the politicians, you like and they don’t like.
That is democracy. Of course it is not a perfect system, but do you know a better one? Do you think communism is a solution?

Anarchy is one. We see this in nature every day. Only the stronges, fastest, or smartest survive.
Sylence - 13 12 08 - 12:44

You’re paying for those who are not so lucky as you are, to have all these problems and benefits of your life. Think about this, if you’re angry. Makes you feel… better?
