Irrlicht Engine Wiki Spammed

The Irrlicht Engine Wiki is now filled with content, thanks to all people helping with this. The development team is also using the wiki a bit for communication and planning, so it is a very helpful tool. Unfortunately, now also spammers start to like it, so I password protected the wiki. The password is written on the bottom of first page of the wiki anyway, but I think currently we are only struggling with spam bots. If the password doesn't help, I'm going to add a Captcha or similar later.

five comments, already:

Thanks niko. I also noticed that someone was kept on changing “Irrlicht Wiki” to “Irrlicht Kiwi”. Someone changed it back to “Irrlicht Wiki” and he changed it to Kiwi again… seemed he was fun playing with it…

I wrote a plugin for MediaWiki a couple of years ago which delegates authentication to phpBB2, meaning our users just have to log in with their forum account. We’re using a fairly strong (plugin) captcha on phpBB2 which keeps most of the spammers out now. Code is here if you want it:

Sorry, and one limitation – people with weird characters in their usernames in phpBB2 that MediaWiki doesn’t like won’t be able to log in though, that was the reason a very small number of people said they had problems with it.
